The demon Lucrecia accompanies her mistress to a remote castle to evaluate a powerful duke. It’s just how I would describe my initial reaction to his predicament in the book. We have Prince Roland, back at the capitol to see his sister ascend to the throne after the untimely death of their father and we have the young and shy necromancer, Sairis confused as hell as to why he was at the kingdom’s capital to begin with. Speaking of characters, I do loved the dual POV that we’ve got here because with so many things happening in the book and questions arising each chapter, we get immediate answers from the characters themselves. Sairis has never ridden a living horse, never left home, never kissed a man. Sairis finds his defenses melting in spite of his best efforts.
